Award Offset buys India's first Heidelberg XL 75

Award Offset Printers and Packaging has become the first company in India to install a Heidelberg XL 75.

Brothers Rajesh and Nitin Shah, along with Rajesh's son Krunal, are directors of the 75-staff company, which is based in Mumbai.

According to Krunal, the investment is part of a major expansion in infrastructure driven by demand for packaging products.

He said the decision to buy the Heidelberg XL 75, which can output 18,000sph, was based on its quality and speed.

The manufacturer will install the press at its plant in Navi Mumbai and will use it to produce pharmaceutical, oral dental and health packaging products.

Nitin Shah said: "This investment safeguards the work we have. The XL 75 boasts a larger sheet format and innovations, such as the new Prinect Press Center with Intellistart and the new delivery control panel with touch screen and jog wheel.

"The XL 75 is the perfect choice for commercial and package printing."

The company said it was also planning to buy a CTP for their Navi Mumbai unit in the near future.
