KBA Rapida boost for Victoria Litho

Victoria Litho has increased its annual press production time "by 1,000 hours" by investing in a secondhand six-colour KBA Rapida 162a.

The Middlesex-based company, traditionally a map printer, has strengthened its position in the retail and point-of-sale markets with the investment, and has since picked up four new clients.

The 16-staff firm opted for the press, which originally ran at Frome printer Butler and Tanner, to keep up to speed with current technology and improve turnaround times.

Simon Beard, sales director at Victoria Litho, said: "Our new press gives us an extra dimension. It provides us with extra firepower, which helps us to remain competitive."

The machine will complement a soon-to-be-installed Agfa Avalon platesetter running Agfa plates.

The new CTP ups the company’s four-colour platesetting output while cutting makeready times from 32 to 20 minutes.

Beard added: "The four-colour 20-minute makeready will complement the semi-automated makereadies on our KBA."
