Print industry waste management specialist J&G Environmental has been acquired by Cleansing Service Group (CSG) to form a £65m-turnover company.

J&G Environmental will continue to trade under the same name with all existing 56 staff remaining in current positions across its Dorset and Manchester sites. They join the 483 employed by CSG throughout the UK.

Steve Armstrong, joint managing director at J&G Environmental, said the merger proved to be the "perfect marriage", with CSG previously having carried out treatment on hazardous waste from its Warrington facility.

He said: "It brings together the considerable resources of two well-established private companies who already enjoy strong working ties, reputations for excellent customer service and a shared concern for the environment."

J&G, founded in 1985, handles the waste collection and disposal needs for more than 2000 UK print firms and newspaper groups.

It has merged with Southampton-based CSG, which services sectors including government departments, local authorities, supermarket groups and garage chains.

CSG managing director Paul Quigley said the deal, which was completed on 3 October, had created "the most comprehensive waste management facility yet available to the printing industry".
