B3 printer One Stop Print has said that the closure of Highland sheetfed printer Nevisprint has driven it to invest in new equipment.

The company has spent around £200,000 in the last six months on a new Win four-colour 1524 B3 press and a DB200 perfect binder and System 5000 bookletmaker from Duplo.

Inverness-based One Stop Print said it has seen an increase in its business this year, brought on in particular by the closure of Nevisprint in March.

Managing director Les Kidger said: "The closure gave our business an extra boost, but we were finding we couldn't do it quick enough. We needed faster printing and faster finishing.

"But we didn't want to move into a bigger size, a lot of people are chasing B1 at the moment but we are happy with B3."

Kidger added that the company had already been seeing growth before the failure of Nevisprint, with a 29% year-on-year increase in sales.

The company operates predominantly in and around Scotland and provides print for a number of the Scottish Islands, including the Orkney Isles and it clients include local football team Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

One Stop Print has a turnover of £500,000 and employs nine staff.
