AR Adams & Sons boosts digital print capacity with Xerox 700
AR Adams & Sons has said it is aiming to "stay ahead" after making a foray into personalisation with an investment in a new Xerox 700 digital colour press.
The Dover-based printer is one of the first adopters of the new machine, which it said will help develop its variable-data offering.
James Adams, managing director at the company, which had previously been running a Xerox DocuColor 250, called the kit spend "a natural investment".
He said: "It will help us stay ahead, while providing us with a quality machine that can handle a variety of substrates."
The 20-staff printer has already carried out a number of jobs on the new machine, including one for the local Chamber of Commerce, which involved printing personalised details on each piece in the run.
Adams said variable-data printing was an area that offered "a lot of scope" for the company.
In addition, the new press has considerably boosted the company’s digital print capacity, with the older 250 now running as a back-up machine.
The 120–year-old printer’s new Xerox was supplied by Fujifilm and comes complete with XMPie software.
"The ability to offer personalised print to our customers with XMPie is also a huge bonus. We’re including the value-add of variable data and full image personalisation, giving our customers more options than ever before," said Adams.
The Xerox 700 is designed for the production of items such as brochures, direct mail products, catalogues and calendars, among others.
It can print at speeds of up to 70ppm in both colour and mono production and on stock weights that range from 64gsm-300gsm.
