CPF keeps machine details under wraps for fear of 'copycats'

Miniature finisher Clinical Print Finishers (CPF) has invested in two mystery machines, which it said will help it break into new markets.

Although the Leicester-based company is describing the new products as "innovative", it is unwilling to give away details through fear of a surge in copycat investments.

Around 85% of CPF's business involves the pharmaceutical sector, but it is now able to die-cut miniature booklets and is looking to take on the food, brewery and cosmetics markets.

CPF managing director Jamie Court said: "The product has already attracted interest from major brewers and confectionery manufacturers."

The new machines combine die-cutting with stitching, gluing, folding and pick and place for mailing applications.

Court added the new process would suit uses such as information booklets or vouchers that could be attached to a product but whose shape would reflect the brand it was promoting.

Clinical has also finalised expansion to its current facility in Leicester, which stores more than 60 machines.
