Eco-Book offsets print customers' carbon use

Printondemand-worldwide has unveiled 'Eco-Book' a new green initiative that allows customers of its digital book printing service to help the environment.

Clients that subscribe to the company’s new model will have carbon offset on their behalf and will receive an electronic certificate confirming this.

Andy Cork, managing director of the Peterborough-based firm, said: We wanted to be completely transparent in our processes.

The printer is already involved with an annual tree-planting initiative in Kenya, in order to become a carbon-neutral company.

Around 134 trees will be planted to counteract the effect of the 97.3 tonnes of carbon the company produces each year.

Cork added: We shall be reducing and offsetting all the carbon we produce. But with the support of our customers we hope to take this a step further and become a carbon-positive company.
